Navigating the world of secular entertainment as a Christian can sometimes feel like walking a tightrope, balancing personal faith with cultural engagement.

The Bible doesn’t address secular entertainment directly, as the forms of entertainment we have today were not present during biblical times.
However, it offers principles that can guide our engagement with secular media.
Philippians 4:8, for instance, encourages believers to focus on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy.
In 1 Corinthians 10:31, the Apostle Paul advises, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God,” suggesting that our engagement with entertainment should not compromise our ability to glorify God in our actions and thoughts.
The Bible does not explicitly label listening to “worldly” music as a sin, but it does caution about the content we consume and its impact on our hearts and minds.
Ephesians 5:19 emphasizes the importance of speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, suggesting a preference for music that uplifts and encourages spiritual growth.
Romans 12:2 warns against conforming to the pattern of this world but instead encourages being transformed by the renewing of our minds, indicating that we should be discerning about the messages in the music we listen to.
